The new affordable range of Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation HD Switchers with powerful transmission capabilities and Blackmagic Design cutting edge technologies for live productions. Models include full standards conversion on every SDI input, 4 advanced color keys per M/E series, DVE per M/E series, media players, larger storage, and more.

The new switchers are designed as a professional upgrade for ATEM Mini customers or broadcasters looking to upgrade their studios.

Powerful Broadcast capabilities

The ATEM Constellation HDs feature a compact rack mount design with an integrated control panel. A large LCD screen is also included so customers can view the output and change settings through the menus. The compact design is ideal for portable live production, with 3G-SDI inputs, 3G-SDI aux outputs, balanced audio and Ethernet for control. The top model 4 M/E features RS-422 for serial control and MADI digital audio connections.

With a built-in control panel, users can operate the ATEM Constellation at any time. The control buttons are premium type used on full size panels and extremely reliable. Users can control keyers, media and fade to black from the front panel. In addition, the LCD screen and menu buttons allow access to almost every function.

Up to 40 3G-SDI inputs

The Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation HD Switchers series with up to 40 independent 3G-SDI inputs, with each input having its own dedicated up and cross converter. This makes it possible to convert any 1080p input source to the switcher's video standard. Users have each SDI input switcher with a different TV standard and all inputs work normally.

Up to 24 3G‑SDI outputs

ATEM Constellation HDs have a huge number of independent 3G-SDI outputs. Even the small 1 M/E model has 6 x 3G-SDI outputs. 2 M/E has 12 x 3G-SDI outputs and 4 M/E has 24 x 3G-SDI. These SDI outputs are very powerful, users can independently route any SDI input or any internal source to each SDI output.

Alternatively, use the SDI outputs for ISO recorders, where each deck will receive a timecoded resynchronized input. All SDI outputs contain program audio, RP-188 timecode, SDI camera control, tally & talkback.

Multiview with Labels, Tally & Meters

Built-in multiview allows users to watch multiple sources on one screen. 1 M/E includes 1 multiview, 2 M/E has 2 independent multiviews, and 4 M/E has 4 independent multiviews. All external SDI inputs, as well as all internal video sources can be routed to any display.

Multiple views are fully customizable and can be independently set to 4, 7, 10, 13 or 16 simultaneous views. Users can add the count margin plus source label and VU meters as an overlay to each view. Plus, a red and green outline shows the tally on each view so they know which sources are on the air.

Broadcast Transitions and more!

Wide range of native broadcast quality transitions such as mix, dip, wipe and more. Transitions can be customized in the system control menus with settings for border color, border width, position, direction, etc.

Powerful digital video effect editor for DVE transitions to compress the current image from the screen to reveal a new video underneath it. DVE can even be used to create graphic wipe transitions.

Professional Talkback

Built-in talkback that supports a 5-pin XLR headphone jack, as well as a rear-mounted RJ12 jack for interfacing with talkbacks such as ClearCom or RTS. Users have full control over chat, program loops and mechanics, side audio control and program mixing.

It also supports SDI talkback which uses SDI channels 15 and 16 for two-way communication with Blackmagic Design cameras. You can also use channels 13 and 14 for engineering talkback.

Built-in storage

Built-in media storage delivers quality RGBA graphics and animations that can be instantly played back from 2 or 4 media players.

It contains graphics for use with media players and the 1 M/E model can hold 20 photos and 200 frame animations, the 2 M/E model 40 photos and 400 frame animations and the 4 M/E model 60 photos and 600 frame animations.

Sophisticated ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyers!

Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation HD Switchers are ideal for news or virtual sets, with advanced keys for high-quality color or brightness typing. The chroma keyer is powerful and has a color picker to sample background colors & automatically generate key parameters.

Users have edge and flare controls, and there's even a foreground color corrector so they can match the "look" of the first layer to the background. The keyer can also be used to key patterns and DVEs. The 1 M/E model provides 4 ATEM Advanced Keyers, the 2 M/E 8 ATEM Advanced Keyers and the 4 M/E 16 ATEM Advanced Keyers.

Create stunning Virtual Sets

With 4 upstream chroma keyers per M/E array, the perfect solution for creating virtual sets is provided. With so many advanced keys, users can use one key per camera to create a seamless composition over the background. Even 1 M/E has enough keys for a virtual set of 4 cameras.

You can use external image editors for virtual sets or create a static camera virtual set with pre-made still image backgrounds. It is possible to set macros to switch cameras and load the correct background.

Powerful SuperSource processing!

In addition to the DVEs in the M/E series, the 2 M/E and 4 M/E models include powerful SuperSource processors with 4 additional DVE layers plus a background layer. Any switching video input can be used for each SuperSource DVE, and then they are all placed together in a custom media group background.

SuperSource is just like having an extra built-in multi-level VFX switcher. SuperSource is perfect for picture in picture viewing for interviews because users can adjust the effect while keeping the main DVEs free for other tasks. The ATEM 4 M/E Constellation even features 2 completely independent SuperSource processors.

The SDI inputs also handle embedded audio and mix audio from the video inputs. In addition, program outputs include talkback, tally and camera control information.

Fairlight professional audio mixer

With a built-in Fairlight audio mixer, the ATEM Constellation makes highly complex live audio mixing possible. The internal mixer has up to 156 input channels. Audio is de-embedded from all SDI video inputs and passed to the audio mixer. 4 M/E has additional input channels for the MADI audio inputs.

Each input channel features the highest quality 6 band parametric EQ and compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate and full panning. All of this power can be controlled via ATEM Software Control or a Mackie-compatible panel.

ATEM Software Control Panel

The ATEM Software Control Panel for complete control of the switcher has an interface with a visual switch and parameter palettes for quick settings. It also allows access to camera control, audio mixing, media, macro programming and control of HyperDeck recorders.

All M/E button series have built-in LCD displays for dynamic marking. Model 1 M/E has 1 row of M/E with 10 input buttons, 2 M/E has 2 rows of M/E with 20 input buttons while 4 M/E has 4 rows of M/E with 40 input buttons per row and 4 independent LCD screens.

Unlike other switchers, all features are included in the price and all functions are enabled. There are no license fees or monthly costs.
