Blackmagic Design has announced the updated version of Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 12.5.312.5.3 of its leading video editing and color correction application. DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 now supports importing and exporting jobs from the latest version of Final Cut Pro X, as well as additional improvements to Media Composer and ACES interoperability. The updated version of DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 is now available for DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Resolve Studio users, and can be downloaded for free from the Blackmagic Design website.

The new version of Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve adds compatibility with the new XML 1.6 format used in the latest version of Apple’s Final Cut Pro X. This means that customers using the new version of Final Cut Pro X will be able to send their work to DaVinci Resolve for color correction and finishing, and also create XML to export the result back to Final Cut Pro X. Additionally, DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 includes PostgreSQL 9.5.2 for compatibility with macOS Sierra.

DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 also supports ACES 1.0.2, including the ACEScct color space. ACEScct is a logarithmic encoding of ACES data so that color grading can be performed with DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3.

This new update also improves interoperability with Media Composer. AAF projects containing dip to color dissolves and certain transformation effects such as flip and flop have been significantly improved, making it easier to move work from Media Composer to DaVinci Resolve for finishing. Dolby Vision XML export for mastering and finishing HDR content has also been improved.

“Besides being a great solution for editing and color correction, one of the things customers appreciate most about DaVinci Resolve is that it works with everything,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.
