Blackmagic Design is introducing the new DaVinci Resolve 17.4 which increases the speed of DaVinci Resolve up to 5x on the new Apple Macs with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. With this speed increase, customers can play back and edit 8K projects even faster.
DaVinci Neural Engine
DaVinci Resolve 17.4 increases the decoding speed of 12K Blackmagic RAW files, making it over 3x faster and H.265 performance is 1.5x faster. In addition, DaVinci Neural Engine performance is up to 4x faster, for real-time facial recognition, object detection and intelligent reframing!
Support for 120Hz ProMotion displays makes playback and editing smooth, and HDR displays are supported on the new Apple MacBook HDR displays.
DaVinci Resolve Studio & Dropbox Replay
DaVinci Resolve 17.4 adds Dropbox Replay integration. Projects flow seamlessly from DaVinci Resolve Studio to Dropbox Replay for video review and approval. Accurate color markers and comments in Dropbox Replay sync almost instantly to the timeline.
Other features include easy performance tuning with Dropbox presets and Dropbox Replay, as well as automatic background uploads that are monitored and confirmed when complete.
Subtitles
For subtitling, DaVinci Resolve 17.4 includes automatic background resizing and cursor placement when creating subtitles. Additionally, embedded subtitle timeline tracks automatically populate the main timeline to speed up subtitle creation.
DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor
Users can now use the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor to switch between cameras in multi-camera clips on the edit page.
Fusion
With Fusion, additional support is provided for languages with combined symbols and for those that may be written from right to left, such as Arabic and Hebrew.
Resolve FX Custom Mixer
A new Resolve FX called a custom mixer allows for effects blending and greater control over adjustments. Additionally, a 3D key adds the ability to fine-tune keying and matte details for easy masking.
For DaVinci Resolve Studio, there is also a new halation film that adds a glow or reflection effect around high-contrast edges, giving a more “filmic” look.
Fairlight
Fairlight audio now supports Steinberg VST3 audio plug-ins, giving you access to more audio effects for the perfect soundtrack. Plus, there are keyboard shortcuts or click and drag to rearrange, move and duplicate effects in the Fairlight mixer.
Users can export projects with YouTube video chapters, improved encoding settings for the YouTube rendering preset, and the ability to use hardware-accelerated H.265 on Windows.
