Blackmagic Design announced that global media company Fullscreen is using several Blackmagic cameras, including three URSA Mini 4.6K and four Micro Studio 4K, as well as many other Blackmagic Design live production products, to power its newly designed platform with live programming.

With over 600 million subscribers, Fullscreen is a global media company that serves youth, helps build online influence, and produces multi-platform entertainment experiences. Launched in 2011 during the rapid growth of YouTube, Fullscreen works with YouTube personalities and podcasters to increase their brand awareness and revenue streams. As part of these efforts, Fullscreen has created a video-on-demand platform that allows viewers to watch and share content, and established Fullscreen Studios to provide production support, filming locations, offices for editors and producers, and more.

Fullscreen creates with Blackmagic cameras. According to Richard A. Pizante, Executive in Charge of Production, the Fullscreen team captures, produces, edits and delivers daily content directly to the Fullscreen platform. The team uses three URSA Mini 4.6K cameras for ENG daily coverage and four Blackmagic Studio 4Ks as part of the studio setup. They have also integrated four Micro Studio 4Ks, an ATEM Television Studio and HyperDeck Shuttles into a custom flypack, as well as three Blackmagic Cinema Cameras for podcast shoots.

“Blackmagic Design products have proven to be a great solution for Fullscreen,” said Richard. “For example, we used the flypack to shoot several episodes at Vidcon. The flypack is highly portable, fits into two carry-on cases, and consists of four Micro Studio Camera 4K and other Blackmagic Design products that allow us to produce high-quality productions.”

In addition to the Blackmagic Studio cameras, Fullscreen Studios also uses an ATEM rack system, which features an ATEM Production Studio 4K, six HyperDeck Studio broadcast recorders, a Smart Videohub 40x40 router, SmartView 4K and SmartView HD displays, and various Mini Converters. The Studio was built from the ground up in an empty warehouse in Playa Vista, and now houses eight large sets and four podcast sets with cameras, while the control room contains all the racks with the ATEM Production Studio 4K and all the Blackmagic equipment.

Looking ahead, Richard added that Fullscreen intends to become a live streaming platform and as it is investing in 4K products now, it will not need to reinvest in new technologies in the near future as market trends change.

Blackmagic Design was founded by leading post production professionals and engineers and has offices in the US, UK, Japan, Singapore and Australia.
