News from LaCie / Seagate
At CES 2018, Seagate announced a series of new LaCie products and partnerships aimed at equipping professionals with solutions to problems they face when creating and accessing their data on the go.
“Today's Ultra HiRes cameras create massive image files that fill hard drives at breathtaking rates. Creative professionals need fast, reliable and efficient storage solutions that can keep up with their workflows. LaCie and Seagate products provide a full range of storage options that allow creative professionals to capture and edit material at the same time.
Matt Jefferson, Director of Partnership Development at Blackmagic Design, points out: “Green screen recording has come into focus for the film industry due to the low cost of production. But data really plays an important role, for example, a green screen demonstration at CES 2018 used a Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K camera, where a Terabyte of data was generated for every 20 minutes of video capture. So the amount of data that will be produced after 12-18 hours of downloads is huge. Lacie's big series comes to provide a solution to this by offering the 6big product that is able to record almost 20 hours of video data non-stop!"
Record and edit on location and/or in your studio.
Drone professionals using Ultra HiRes cameras also have problems with their file sizes.
As DJI CEO Michael Perry states:
“Users of DJI Drones capture massive amounts of data. Thus, their management is a constant challenge. Since last year, DJI and Seagate have started working together to solve this data management challenge. Now with the LaCie Dji Copilot and Seagate DJI Fly Drive, you are able to store all data instantly using a durable, high-capacity storage solution.”
Your data and creations are irreplaceable!
Iman Anzari, engineer at Seagate Systems at CES 2018 said “A few years ago, your movie probably ran on a 1GB flash drive, but the technology is running. Now you have 4K and 8K quality. So, you want safe and reliable storage, and at the same time fast access to your data. Creators know that the film industry moves fast. Files are huge and users need to transfer them quickly and efficiently to multiple recipients. As the quality of downloads increases, choosing a system to manage this data that is not only cost-effective but offers better overall value is critical. The hidden costs of complex management and malfunctions can turn any production budget upside down.”
So creative professionals deserve reliable, long-lasting storage solutions that are built specifically for their needs. LaCie and Comart products provide a full range of storage options to meet your growing data capture and processing needs.
