The world's first converter specifically for broadcast-quality audiovisual productions!

IBC 2016, Amsterdam, Netherlands – Blackmagic Design announced Teranex AV, a new converter specifically for AV professionals. Teranex AV features 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a inputs, outputs and loop through, as well as special AV features such as low latency, single frame storage, freeze frame and HiFi audio inputs for professionals working in live production of presentations, conferences etc. .

The new Teranex AV features low latency, down to 67 milliseconds, meaning professionals can convert any HDMI or SDI video format instantly to the desired format, and display it live without delay. For example, at a concert a close-up can be projected on a large screen in perfect sync with the live performance.

Additionally, professionals will gain advanced 2.0aHDMI processing with input, loop through and output connections. This allows HDMI to SDI conversion without additional hardware. They can project the HDMI signal to a projector while simultaneously converting and sending to decks and screens.

For audio, the Teranex AV has a two-channel HiFi connection and XLR connections for 4 channels of AES/EBU or 2 channels of balanced analog audio. HiFi connections are vital for AV professionals because they allow connections to lapel microphones, laptops and other devices. Almost any audio source can be connected to Teranex AV to integrate audio with video and have the final signal available live in any format.

Teranex AV can also capture a frame of video in any format and keep it in memory. Customers can pre-load corporate logos or graphics to display between presentations at conferences, or to display sponsor logos at concerts and events. In addition, TeranexAV has built-in resync to deliver clean transitions between frames and live links for truly professional presentations.

There is even a freeze frame feature that displays a current frame temporarily on the screen until the Teranex AV is set to another video output, a black frame, or a "frozen" image. This is ideal for conferences and events where the presenter is making changes to their presentation and needs something to show in between.

In addition to HDMI and 12G-SDI connections TeranexAV also has 4 3G-SDI outputs to be compatible with many of the older Ultra HD monitors and projectors and projectors that only support quad link SDI 1080HD. With this feature Teranex AV can be used for video wall projections, because it can split the Ultra HD signal to 4 HD screens, or it can amplify the simple HD signal and split it to 4 large screens for a “tiled” effect . With these features, huge multi-screen installations can be supported for live events with impressive results.

It has BNC input and output connections for producing or receiving reference signals. A built-in Ethernet connection allows for remote control, and a fiber optic cage is available for adding optional SMPTE fiber so users can send video and audio over long distances. The TeranexAV also has rear supports to protect cables and connections from damage during external transmissions.

Teranex AV will be available from the end of September from Comart which is an official BlackmagicDesign reseller.
